Magnolia x soulangeana “Nigra”

Botanical characteristics: It is a cultivar with calyx-shaped purple-red flowers, which are very dark at the beginning of the summer. It blooms again. It has a bushy growth habit with obovate dark green leaves.

Agronomic and environmental characteristics: It is the most widespread deciduous Magnolia found in gardens and the easiest to cultivate. It tolerates clay soils but not calcareous ones. It is highly resistant to air pollution.

Use: It is used as a specimen plant in the middle of the lawn or associated with lower shrubs in flowerbeds. It is ideal for small-sized gardens.
